Camping with the Cousins, Take Two!

Two summers ago, we went on Emily’s first ever camping trip, with my sister. We had an absolutely fantastic time, so when she asked if we wanted to go again this summer, we jumped at the chance! She is so good at camping. She knows exactly what to pack to make it decadent (as decadent as camping can be, anyhow!) and super easy, and her meals (and drinks!) are fabulous!

We headed out with her car packed to the gills.

We camped at a privately owned place that has the most gorgeous beach. The sites are small and crowded together, but we got the best one (which was super cute and pretty!), and by strategically placing our tents and car, we minimized our awareness of the other campers. The tradeoffs for privacy were bathrooms close by that were well lit, cute little gardens, a nearby kitchen sink with hot water to do dishes, not having to bring in your own wood or ice, and having a little store (which boasted an excellent wine selection!) just a 5 minute walk up the hill. We loved it!

The secluded beach was breathtaking, and it was set back a bit so it wasn’t windy at all:

And we had so much fun at our little site! (Though I will admit, we had a Pinterest fail with making dessert shotglasses out of roasted marshmallows—most of the time they leaked, and they didn’t taste as good as we thought they would, but still it was fun to try!)

Our site had a steep hill to the back of us, and there was a little trail leading up to a tree that the girls had fun hanging out at.

And of course the drinks and meals were amazing!

Heading up the trail to the store at the top for a bottle of wine! There was a bench at the top that overlooked the beach below.

We made one field trip out to Bowling Ball Beach. We arrived an hour or two later than we should have (the best time to really see the “bowling ball” rocks is at low tide), but still it was a beautiful beach! We had wanted to visit Glass Beach as well, but the weather was just too windy and cloudy so we decided to instead hang out more at our campground, saving Glass Beach for another trip when the sun would light up the glass more. Maybe we will bring Tom out to do that!

Our drive home was lovely!
