Project 12 Portraits | Window Light

This year I’ve joined a second blog circle with a wonderful group of women, some of whom I am lucky enough to just be meeting through this! This new circle is focused on portraits of our kids, and we will be shooting a different type of portrait each month to keep us challenged and learning, often stretching us outside of our comfort zone and expanding our horizons! (Is that enough clichés for you? 😉 )

This month’s challenge was a portrait using window light. Since my house is fairly dark, this is my favorite light at home! I promise to get more creative on future months, though…

Yesterday afternoon I found Emily doing her homework in our room–she likes window light the best too! So I went with it.

For the last image, I got out my Lensbaby and asked her to look out the window and ignore me. I love the Lensbaby, but I still really struggle with focus, so I am trying to force myself to use it. I’m not sure if it’s that my eyes just aren’t good enough, but try as I might, I just am not reliable with getting good focus. But ever so slowly I am improving, and I won’t give up because I love the soft, dreamy effect I can get with it!

Now please move on to my dear friend Allison’s post with her Window light portrait—I can’t wait to see what she came up with! (And thank you, Allison, for inviting me into the group; I am honored to have been included with this lovely group of women!)

I love these of your daughter. First, I love her freckles. My 6 year old gets really sad that she does not have any. Second, I love that she was doing her homework in your room by a window with good light. My kind of girl!ReplyCancel

Look at all that gorgeous window light! Em looks beautiful, as always, and I love the last one with the Lensbaby. The combination of the Lensbaby & her gaze out the window just seems so dreamy! I am so glad you are doing this project with me this year! <3ReplyCancel
