Mother’s Day, 2011!!

At the last minute we ALMOST got to spend Mother’s Day with my mom (Grammie, to Emily!) and sister, but our plans changed in the end when my poor sister ended up sick for her Mother’s Day… So we went back to our original plan of spending the day at Tom’s and my alma mater (and where we met), UC Davis, where every year on Mother’s Day weekend they host the Whole Earth Festival (think Art & Wine, but along with the art there are hippies and pot ;-P). We’ve only had to miss it a couple of times since college, and we have such fun every time we go! This year we also had dinner at our current favorite Davis restaurant, Seasons. Minus my sister being sick, the day was perfect–we had lovely spring (and uncharacteristically wind-free) weather, and we found several gifts to stash, had a DELICIOUS dinner (where my newfound love of creme brulee was happily (if only temporarily) satisfied), and went for a beautiful sunset walk along the Putah Creek Arboretum path that brought back tons of happy memories both of our college days and also of bringing Emily back each year since her babyhood. All in all, it was a pretty fantastic family day–JUST what Mother’s Day should be!

Emily got her annual face painting (I love that she still doesn’t feel too old for this!):

Our sunset walk after dinner:

And the requisite Mother’s Day photos, since I am trying REALLY hard to be IN more photos for Emily to have one day, even though I pretty much detest it…:

What a beautiful location. Its fun to see that your daughter isn’t too grown up yet. Its so hard to our children get older! She is beautiful. I love the images of her getting her face painted. Yay, for getting out from behind the camera. I’m sure your daughter, as well as you, will cherish these images as she gets older!ReplyCancel

Davis looks really pretty (I’ve never been). I’d like to say you’re never too old for face painting, but I guess you do grow out of it, huh? Glad your Mother’s Day was wonderful, after all!ReplyCancel
